The Old Ratcliffan 2011 | events eVenTs The Ratcliffian Association London Dinner Friday 11th February 2011, The Crypt, St Etheldreda’s, Ely Place, London 75 guests assembled once again in the beautiful crypt of St Etheldreda’s Church, at the invitation of the Rector, Fr Tom Deidun (62). They enjoyed a delicious meal and fine wines provided by the renowned French restaurant, The Bleeding Heart, situated next door in the Bleeding Andrew Yell (82), Abe (92) & Emma Mee Sir Anthony Holland (56) with Mr & Mrs Carlos Heart Yard. & Dominic Magee (92) Pavesi (92) Paul Rudd (60), a governor at the College and a Past President of the Association, proposed a toast to his dear friend, Fr Simon Giles (60), and kept the guests amused with stories of Fr Simon’s ordination and tales of their times together at school. Gareth Lloyd, Ratcliffe’s headmaster, gave a Fr Simon Giles (60), President of the Paul Rudd (60) proposing the toast to his close short speech giving a brief update Association with RA Golf Capt, Abe Mee (92) friend, Fr Simon Giles (60), President of the last year at Ratcliffe. The Ratcliffian Association Sporting Dinner Friday 18th February 2011, the Refectory, Ratcliffe College The Ratcliffian Association Fundraising Committee comprising of Louise Marsden (91), Abe Mee (92), Alex Gamble (03), Gemma Rumbold (01) and Jackie Bennett organised a Sports Dinner for Old Ratcliffians and friends of Ratcliffe. The evening was a huge success and The Refectory decked out in Leicester Alex Brucciani (97) enjoying ‘Heads raised nearly £5000 for the Tigers colours! & Tails’ Ratcliffian Association. Peter Wheeler (England and Leicester Tigers) chaired a question and answer session with a host of sporting celebrities. These comprised of Danny Hipkiss (England and Leicester Tigers), Paul Nixon and Matthew Hoggard (England and Leicestershire County Cricket Club), Stephen Jelley (Moto GP) and Phil Gilchrist (acting Head of Sport at Ratcliffe and ex Leicester City Football Club). Ed Gamble (95) raised nearly £2000 Ed Gamble (95), the ‘Persuasive Our sporting celebrities! at the auction of various items of Auctioneer’ sports memorabilia.
