2013 Leavers’ Mass & Presentations
Friday 24th May 2013
Before starting their A Level exam leave, it is now tradition
for the Year 13 leavers to celebrate their last offcial day
at School in a number of ways. Usually this entails the
giving of a ‘hoodie’ (embroidered on the back with their
preferred name or nickname), a yearbook with inscriptions
by everyone in the year and a fun BBQ lunch. To fnish off
the day on a more formal note, there is a Leavers’ Mass,
attended by parents and family, and a presentation of gifts
by the President of the Ratcliffan Association (this year,
President Abe Mee (92), who found time in his hectic work
schedule to give out the prizes). This symbolises moving L to R: Anna Thorley (13), Fenella Maxwell (11), Jess Barton,
on from one phase of their lives as students and entering Hollie Finnegan (13), Shona Traynor (13), Becky Taylor (10),
into another as Old Ratcliffans. The boys are given an Old Frankie Hayes (13), Chloe Theobold (13) & Rose Borrajo (13)
Ratcliffan tie and the girls a pashmina embroidered with
the School crest. After Mass, everyone is invited into the
Old Library for afternoon tea before offcially leaving school,
even though they return to take their A Level examinations.
This year, an enjoyable and emotional day was had by all.
