Graham Sharpe and his team put on some fun activities in the
morning, followed by a barbecue lunch. Afterwards, there was
a special Leavers’ Mass, prepared by Paul Michel, the School
Chaplain, in conjunction with the students. It was so uplifting
that many of them were seen to wipe a tear from their eyes.
There were some beautiful readings, one of which is printed on
Page 11. The music performed by the students themselves was
taken from various parts of the Picnic Concert. President, Mike
Meredith (89), and Headmaster, Gareth Lloyd, presented each
student with a gift from the Ratcliffian Association: an Old
Ratcliffian tie for the boys and a solid silver charm engraved
with the Ratcliffe crest for the girls. The Mass and presentation
symbolise the students’ transition from Ratcliffe College pupils
into Old Ratcliffians. This day marks the start of a new beginning
for everyone.
