CLASS OF 2015

The Class of 2015

The proportion of students gaining a place at their first-choice university is the highest
since 2007. The percentage of Year 13 students moving straight to higher education
is also very high, reversing the recent trend of students seeking alternatives in light of
university tuition fees. Over the past five years, the percentage of students moving to
Russell Group universities has varied between 52% and 62%. This year’s figure is 60%.
The A Level grades obtained by the year group as a whole were very pleasing again this
year. Very few grades fell below expectations, while several were significantly better
than had been predicted in the light of AS results. Since Results Day, assistance has
been offered and provided for those students who did not seek a university place. This
support will continue in the future, not least for those who will be submitting UCAS
application forms this autumn.
