incredible enthusiasm, outlining
recent developments at the
College. Eugene McCarthy
(61), who had flown in from
the USA, proposed a toast
to Mike Meredith (89), the
President, and to the Ratcliffian
Association. Mike replied
and spoke about the exciting
careers mentoring programme 3
that is being piloted. This was
followed by Anthony Jewell
(54) proposing a toast to the
Queen. Finally, everyone stood
to sing the Old Ratcliffian Song,
accompanied by Gareth Lloyd 4
on the piano. Everyone raised
a glass (and the roof!) as they
sang in unison. There was also
a raffle which raised £405; this
was put towards the costs of
the evening.
Reflecting on the event, Frank Nieuwenhuys (68) said: ‘It is 48
years since I have met up with my contemporaries and it has
been absolutely brilliant to catch up after all this time. I will most
definitely be attending more events in the coming months and
years.’
Next year’s event will take place on Friday 3rd February 2017.
