         MASS, CRICKET, LUNCH & AFTERNOON TEA


         SUNDAY 10TH JULY 2016



         On Sunday morning, there was a well-attended Mass for
         deceased Old Ratcliffians in the church, followed by tea and
         coffee.

         From 12pm, more Old Ratcliffians began to arrive for the AGM
         of the Association, after which everyone headed to the marquee
         for some light refreshments and to greet other guests and ORs
         prior to lunch.

         A light buffet lunch was then served alongside a delicious BBQ
         which was placed outside the marquee, and guests enjoyed the
         warm breeze whilst the cricketers began to warm themselves up
         for the match.

         As it was a fine summer’s day, the sides of the marquee were
         removed,  revealing  a  wonderful  viewing  platform  from  which
         to watch the Richard Hughes T20 cricket match, which was   Sam Bird (98) with Ginny O’Keeffe (née Gamble) (98) & family
         organised by the OR cricket captain Ben Stephens (96).
                                                              During a break in the cricket, afternoon tea was served in the
         Children enthusiastically welcomed the arrival of a bouncy   marquee, where the cricketers cooled down (momentarily) and
         castle, and they were also treated to hand and face painting –   guests mingled, exchanging stories of their past at Ratcliffe in
         interestingly, the most requested design was the Leicester City   the shade from the warm sunshine.

                                                              Eventually, the cricket was won by the Old Ratcliffian Older
         There was also a tour of the School, where Old Ratcliffians who   Boys side, and the shield was presented by newly-appointed
         hadn’t been back for a number of years were treated to over an   Ratcliffian Association President Sam Bird (98), in the first of
         hour re-living their school days, thanks to Andrew Yell (82).  many of his duties as President for the year.
